At the Texas Tech Matador Qualifier in Lubbock, Kirk ran a career-best time in the 60-meter dash, 6.87 seconds. That qualified him for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships with a “B” qualifying standard.

"Kirk missed some time, but I'm real proud of him for sticking with it and competing hard," coach Brian Whitlock said.

Kirk is a junior from San Bruno, Calif., and a transfer from East Los Angeles Junior College.
