Dennis, a junior from Kenya, helped led the 24th-ranked cross country team at the West Texas A&M Buffalo Stampede by finishing in first place. On a rough course and in hot, windy, dusty conditions, Dennis topped the 47-runner field with an 8-kilometer time of 26 minutes, 10 seconds, which was some 42 seconds in front of the runner-up.
It was Dennis’ third career victory at Wayland, including his second in two years at the Buffalo Stampede.
"Dennis looked really good. He looked really strong today in tough conditions,” coach Brian Whitlock said. “Dennis and I have finally gotten on the same page as far as his training and I think he's running well and feeling good. He hasn't had any setbacks like last year.”
Wayland finished second as a team in its final outing of the fall schedule.
