The dance team earned third place at the NDA Collegiate Championships this past weekend in Daytona Beach, Fla. after showing an amazing amount of composure, even when things went wrong.

Wayland was third going into the finals on Friday afternoon and had high hopes of moving past second-place Aquinas College, a team they only trailed by just over 1/100th of a point. When their music unexpectedly stopped at the one-minute mark of the 2:11 routine, the team kept on going, never missing a beat.

"I was so proud of them for showing such grace under pressure," head coach Kristen Jones said. "They did an amazing job to just keep dancing. The girls handled it so well and I couldn't be more proud of them."

Despite the major hiccup, the judges rewarded the team for their solid performance and the team brought home a third place trophy.

"The girls were amazing," Jones said. "And hey, we're third in the nation and we did it without music.”
