Men's Soccer Rhane Jeffress

WBU Men Force Double Overtime

Junior transfer Bright Atoe scored the first-ever goal in Wayland Baptist men's soccer history on a penalty kick at the 21:17 mark of the first period at Texas Wesleyan University, but the Rams broke a 1-1 tie four minutes into the second overtime period to take a 2-1 victory over the Pioneers on Friday afternoon in Ft. Worth.

Atoe finished the contest with three shots. Senior T. J. Nolen put three of his four shots on goal, and freshman Colton Givens added two more, both of which were saved by the Ram goalkeeper.

TWU outshot the Pioneers 35-14, but could put only seven of those attempts on goal, while WBU forced saves on half of its shots.

Zack Baxley was in net for the Pioneers during the opening period. The freshman from Rendon, Tex. gave way to Prashay Deo in the second period. Deo, another freshman, made four saves in the second half plus another one in the first overtime period, but allowed Marcus Harris' unassisted goal off a rebound at the 104:16 mark.

The Pioneers will go after their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon against Northwood University in Cedar Hill.
