JBU Blanks Pioneer Men

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. --- The Wayland Baptist men had three goals scored against them for the first time in six games in a 3-0 loss at John Brown on Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers gave up four goals in each of their first two contests, but have held opponents to just one goal or less in each game since.

According to WBU coach Jamath Shoffner, the goals that got by his freshman goalkeeper, John-Ramses Thomas, were extraordinary.

"They had three unreal shots that under normal circumstances wouldn't have gone in.  You have to give JBU credit, though, because they were well organized and hard to penetrate."

The Golden Eagles outshot the Pioneers 19-9.  WBU put only three of their chances on goal.

"We kept possession of the ball well today," added Shoffner, "but just couldn't create enough chances in front of the goal."

Jevaughn Vance and Saman Hassan had two shots each for the Wayland men who are now 4-4-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

The Pioneers return home this week for two SAC games against St. Gregory's and Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday and Saturday.

"Now we are excited to be back at home after our last four games on the road."
