Wayne Northover has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Northover, the defending NAIA champion in the outdoor long jump and triple jump, had the NAIA's fourth-best triple jump so far this season when he competed at the Lobo Collegiate Open on Saturday in Albuquerque. Northover's jump of 47 feet, 1½ inches in his first competition of the season met the NAIA "A" qualifying standard as he finished fifth out of 13 entrants, coming in behind four NCAA Division I student-athletes. Northover also placed fifth out of 27 entrants in the long jump.
WBU's next meet is the Masked Rider Open hosted by Texas Tech. Action begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday and continues at 10 a.m. Saturday.
