Former Wayland Baptist track & field team member and assistant coach Jim Carlisle will be inducted into the Texas Track & Field Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Carlisle, a 1977 graduate of Wayland Baptist College, was a well-respected track and field official for many years.
He officiated as a referee and technical official at all levels of the USATF circuit including youth, professio
nal and masters, as well as the World Championships, Texas high school championships, and numerous NCAA and NAIA conference and national championships. He served as an official at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
Carlisle held various USATF regional and national offices throughout his career, and most recently served as the official certification cha
ir for the USATF Southwestern Association. At the 2019 USATF annual meeting, he was honored by the Men's Track & Field Committee with
the Roy Griak Distinguished Service Award. He was inducted into the USATF National Officials Hall of Fame in 2016.
Carlisle, who was born in Tulia and grew up in Kress, was a retired high school counselor and lived in Carrollton before his death on July 12, 2020, at age 65.
Carlisle will be inducted into the Texas Track & Field Hall of Fame on Jan. 7, 2022, during ceremonies at the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine. For more information, click
