Box Score FORT WORTH – With one win under their belt heading into Sooner Athletic Conference play, the Wayland Baptist women's team went to Martin Field here Saturday afternoon against the Lady Rams of Texas Wesleyan looking to add to their win column. After a scoreless first half, both sides scored two goals in the second 45 minutes then, after two overtime periods without a goal, the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
The Pioneers (1-5-2 overall, 0-1-1 SAC) gave up the first score of the game to Theresa Garsztecki in the second minute after intermission to give Wesleyan (6-2-1, 1-0-1) a 1-0 edge.
The lead didn't hold up for too long as Wayland senior
Jodian Morris scored in the 60
th-minute to tie it and again in the 64
th-minute to put the Pioneers ahead 2-1 moving late into the second half.
The Pioneers also had a short handle on the lead, however. In the 80
th minute, Ram Kaitlin Bush scored the last goal of the match to even things once again. Neither team could push across a goal in the two overtime periods.
Morris led Wayland with eight shots for the match, followed by senior
Annysa Plata with seven. Wayland ended with 20 shots, compared to Texas Wesleyan's 26.
It was the third extra-period match of the season for the Pioneers and their second that ended in a double-overtime draw.
The Pioneers, after four road matches in a row, host the first of two consecutive matches at home at 3 p.m. Tuesday against St. Gregory's.
