Box Score Box Score CHICKASHA, Okla. — Wayland Baptist continued its great run Thursday night in Sooner Athletic Conference action as the No. 14 Flying Queens posted their 15th straight win by defeating Science and Arts of Oklahoma, 67-44.
It's the Flying Queens' longest streak since 1998-99 when they won 16 straight.?
While being outrebounded for the first time in two months, (46-41), the Queens relied on their defense to force a season-high 29 turnovers.
"This was one of our best offensive games," WBU coach
Alesha Robertson-Ellis said. "We out-hustled them and played really well on the defensive end."
Even with the struggles on the defensive end, the Queens maintained a manageable lead in the first half, going into halftime ahead 35-22.
The Drovers (5-15, 4-11 SAC) were able to out-rebound the Flying Queens, something that hasn't happened since a Dec. 15 loss to Texas Woman's University, 61-41.
Robertson-Ellis, however, felt that wasn't a major factor.
"I didn't feel like that was a problem," Robertson-Ellis said.
Both the Queens and Drovers shot below 40 percent from the field, Wayland at 35 percent and USAO at 28.
"No one shot the ball as well as they could," Robertson-Ellis said. "We made shots when we needed them."
The Queens pulled away in the fourth quarter, only allowing the Drovers 10 points.
Although the Queens also shot below average from the 3-point line for the second consecutive game (6-of-21, 28 percent), Wayland's bench came in and made major contributions.
Senior
Krystal Forthan and freshman
Maci Merket both turned in huge games for the Queens. Forthan scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Merket finished with 12 points.

"Krystal came in a played a good game today," Robertson-Ellis said. "She adjusted well and did what she had to score. Maci played well today. She didn't play like a freshman."
Also in double figures for the Queens were junior
Shawna Monreal with 11 points and senior
Stephanie Afunugo with 10.
The Flying Queens will play their last regular-season road game at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Gregory's (8-16, 5-10). The Lady Cavaliers defeated Texas Wesleyan, 67-60, Thursday. In their last meeting, the Queens bested SGU, 82-64.
"Teams are trying to slow our momentum down," Robertson-Ellis said. "We just have to make sure we have good defense and push the tempo."
