OKLAHOMA CITY --- Flying Queens freshman guard
Cania Mitchell have received yet another SAC Digital Scoreboards Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week award, per the Sooner Athletic Conference offices.
The Amarillo, Texas native has now earned four total SAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week awards – one defensive and three offensive.
Mitchell earned the award after averaging a near triple-double in two games for the Queens this weekend. She averaged 21 ppg, 9.5 reb/g, 9.5 ast/g, and 2.5 stl/g during the 1-1 weekend.
In the Queens 69-60 win over USAO on Thursday, Mitchell recorded a triple-double by going for 20 points on 60% shooting from the floor, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, two steals, and one block. Mitchell then went for 22 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals against (RV) Mid-America Christian on Saturday.
For the season, Mitchell is averaging 15.9 ppg (7
th in SAC), 51.2% shooting from the floor (2
nd in SAC), 5.7 reb/g, 5.1 ast/g (1
st in SAC), and 2.4 stl/g (4
th in SAC).
Mitchell and the 7-seed Flying Queens will open the 2026 SAC Athletic Solutions Women's Basketball Championships against 2-seed MACU on Thursday, February 26
th, at 5:30 PM.
