Wayland Baptist's 2016-17 swimming and diving program has received Scholar All-America recognition from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America. In addition, eight individuals earned Scholar All-America honors by the CSCAA.
In total, 720 teams representing 443 institutions across all collegiate divisions achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the spring 2017 semester.
Wayland's men's team, with a 3.19 GPA, was one of nine NAIA teams honored while the Pioneer women's squad, with a 3.27 GPA, was one of 12 NAIA teams recognized.
Meanwhile, the CSCAA selected a record 997 swimmers and divers for its Scholar All-America team. The selections recognize students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.Â
In addition to the 997 first-team selections, 954 students were named as honorable mention selections. Those students have achieved a GPA of 3.50 and a "B" time standard or competed at a regional or zone qualifying meet.
