Box Score FORT WORTH – After posting three consecutive straight-set wins, the Wayland Baptist volleyball team went the opposite way here Friday night, falling to Texas Wesleyan in Sooner Athletic Conference play, 25-16, 25-15, 25-18.
"We didn't do a good job with our serve receive and we had too many serving errors," Wayland coach
Jim Giacomazzi said.
The loss snapped a four-match win streak for Wayland (8-3, 2-1 SAC), while the Lady Rams (11-1, 1-1), ranked the equivalent of 32
nd in the NAIA, won their third in a row after a SAC-opening loss to Southwestern Assemblies of God. The Pioneers now head to Waxahachie to take on SAGU (10-3, 1-0) at 1 p.m. Saturday. SAGU hosted Oklahoma-Panhandle State on Friday.

Against Texas Wesleyan, against which Wayland went 2-2 last season, Wayland led early in the first two sets, but never by more than a point or two and never for very long.
"We finally recognized what their offense was doing, but it wasn't until the third set. By that time too much water had escaped the dike and we pretty much drowned in our errors," Giacomazzi said. "We ended the second half of the third set with the passion and determination I wish we had at the beginning of the match."

The Pioneers hit .175 for the match, with
Mallorie Ellis getting 10 kills and hitting .207.
Megan Sharratt, the three-time SAC Attacker of the Week, finished with nine kills and hit .368.
Amber Daniel added seven kills and a team-high 10 digs.

Elisabeth Piroli recorded 28 assists and eight digs, while SAC Defender of the Week
Jordan Breding got nine digs. WBU had only four block-assists, two by
Kellie Kozak.
