Overwatch team picks up 2 more forfeits

The Wayland Baptist eSports team is on a winning streak! The Pioneers are still searching, however, for their initial on-screen victory.

Wayland wound up its first fall season Saturday with two more forfeit wins, giving the Pioneers three 'Ws' in a row.

The Pioneers' Overwatch team was scheduled to face Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) and Bellevue (Neb.) on Saturday.

"Mount Vernon didn't show or respond at all, while Bellevue told us they didn't have enough player," Wayland coach Duncan Sweeney said.

The forfeit victories follow last Saturday's forfeit by Robert Morris University (Ill.).

The competitions were the last of the fall for Wayland, which winds up with a 3-4 record in Overwatch. The Pioneers' SMITE team was winless in its three matches.

Sweeney said the WBU eSports team will resume competition in the spring.
