Plainview, Texas – The RV Flying Queens claimed victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (7-6, 4-4) in a Sooner Athletic Conference Game. Megan Nestor scored 24 points and grabbed 22 rebounds which ties the school record that she set earlier this season against Northern New Mexico College.

With just over three minutes remaining in the first quarter, Nestor was able to force a Lion turnover and scored the bucket to give the Flying Queens a 12-3 lead. The Queens finished the period on a 7-2 run capped off by a Bobbie Fouquet 3-pointer to give Wayland Baptist a 17-5 lead.

After the Lions hit a couple of threes to begin the second quarter, a bucket by Linda Brice gave the Flying Queens a 19-8 lead. The Lions responded by going on a 13-0 run to give them a 21-19 halfway through the period. A bucket by Peyton North with under a minute remaining until the half gave the Flying Queens a 30-28 lead, but a successful and-one conversion gave the Lions a 31-28 lead at the half.

Two early layups by Nestor brought the Queens back even with the Lions at 34-34 to begin the third frame. Taylor Houston knocked down two jump shots to give the Queens a 42-38 lead with just under five minutes remaining in the quarter. After a Linda Brice layup put the Queens up by 3, the Lions hit a last second 3-pointer to tie the game at 50 heading to the final quarter. Megan Nestor nearly had a double-double in the third quarter alone as she scored 9 points and grabbed 10 rebounds with 9 being offensive rebounds.

The Queens opened the final frame with a 7-0 run to push their lead to 57-50 with just over five minutes remaining in regulation.
