Pioneers Fall Twice in Doubleheader at Texas College on Friday Afternoon

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Tyler, Texas – The Pioneers fell in both games of the Friday doubleheader on the road at Texas College to open up a 4-game road weekend. The Pioneers were defeated 3-1 in game one, and they suffered a 5-1 defeat in game two on Friday afternoon.
 
Clarissa Rejino made the start for the Pioneers in game one, and she did her job by giving the Pioneers a chance to win the game. Rejino pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 3 runs and only 1 earned run, 5 hits, no walks, and 2 strikeouts. Unfortunately, the Pioneers only mustered 4 hits and run one of run support for Rejino. Berkley Bradley knocked in the lone run for the Pioneers after she reached on an error that scored Madison Martinez. Texas College scored a run in the 2nd, 4th, and 6th innings to win the first contest, 3-1.
 
Madison Martinez went 1-2 with a run scored. Jenna Sepeda finished game one batting 2-2 with a hit by pitch. Arianna Zubia went 1-3 with a walk/
 
The Pioneers put together a very similar stat line when it comes to game 2 – scoring 1 run on 4 hits – but errors hurt Wayland Baptist in this one. Addy Rich made the start in game two for the Pioneers. She threw 4.1 innings, allowing 5 runs and only 2 earned runs, 9 hits, 3 walks, and a strikeout. Kaci Rivera threw 1.2 scoreless innings with one strikeout in relief for the Pioneers.
 
Wayland Baptist scored the first run of game two after Mikayla Carrillo was hit by the pitch, stole a couple of bases to advance to third, and came across to score on a sacrifice fly from Reagan Davis. Texas College responded by scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd, and 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to make the score 5-1. The Pioneers were unable to scratch across anymore runs and took the loss in game two, 5-1.
 
Mikayla Carrillo went 1-2 with a run scored, a walk, a hit by pitch, and 2 stolen bases. Berkley Bradley had two hits in 3 of her game two at-bats. Jenna Sepeda finished 1-3 with a walk. Reagan Davis went 0-2 with an RBI sacrifice fly.
 
The Pioneer softball team will travel to Arlington, Texas to face off against Arlington Baptist University in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. First pitch for game one is set for 12:00 PM.
