Box Score 2 Langston, Oklahoma – The Pioneers swept the Friday doubleheader at the Langston Lions to move to 5-5 in Sooner Athletic Conference play this season. Wayland Baptist had a comeback 5-2 win in game one, and they scored 3 late runs to come from behind to steal game two, 6-5.

st inning, but the Pioneers would answer back in the top of the 3
rd after
Mikayla Carrillo hit a sacrifice to score
Aaleah Rodriguez to make it a 2-1 game. The Pioneers would take over game one in the top of the 5
th by scoring 3 runs that started with a two-run double by Carrillo, then followed by an RBI single by
Arianna Zubia to make it 4-2, Wayland Baptist.
Reagan Davis worked a leadoff walk for the Pioneers in the top of the 7
th. After Davis stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch, Carrillo singled to left to bring her in to score for her third RBI on the game.
Addy Rich slammed the door on the Lions in the bottom of the 7
th, and the Pioneers took game one, 5-2.
Addy Rich got the start for the Pioneers in game one, and she was terrific. Rich went the complete seven innings in her winning effort, allowing no earned runs, 8 hits, two, walks, and a strikeout.
Carrillo went 2-3 with 3 RBIs, a double, a sacrifice, and a stolen base to fuel the Pioneer offense in game one. Zubia finished 1-3 with two RBIs and a walk. Davis finished 2-3 with two runs scored, a walk, and two stolen bases.
Game two saw the Pioneers fall behind in the bottom of the 1
st again as the Lions scratched across one run to take an early lead. The Lions then tacked on four runs in the bottom of the 3
rd to take a 5-0 lead and seemed like they were in control of game two. However, Wayland Baptist would get the bats going in the top of the 4
th as Rich drove a two-run single to right to make it a 5-2 ballgame. The Pioneers trimmed their deficit to two runs in the top of the 6
th after Carrillo scored Rich on a sacrifice fly to make it 5-3.
With the game on the line in the top of the 7
th and the Pioneers trailing 5-3, they flipped the game completely by scoring 3 runs to take a 6-5 lead.
Berkley Bradley and
Jenna Sepeda each singled and came across to score thanks to some Lions defensive miscues and a sacrifice fly. Rich then singled to center to score
Jadyn Fernandez as the go-ahead run that put the Pioneers on top. Rich slammed the door once again on the Lions in the bottom of the 7
th to secure the Friday sweep of Langston, 6-5.
Amber Poorbaugh made the game two start for the Pioneers, going 3 innings, allowing 5 earned runs, 6 hits, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Rich pitched 4 scoreless innings in relief to get the win, allowing no runs, two hits, no walks, and two strikeouts.
Rich also did damage at the plate going 2-3 with 3 RBIs, a run scored, and two stolen bases. Poorbaugh went 2-3 from the plate as well with an RBI and a run scored. Bradley finished game two hitting 2-4 with a double and a run scored.
Jadyn Fernandez went 1-3 with an RBI, a run scored, a sacrifice fly, and a stolen base.
The Pioneers will look to win the 4-game weekend series against Langston with a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch for game one is set for 11:00 AM.
