Seward, Nebraska – The Flying Queens have received the 11
th seed in the Seward Region where they will square off against the 6
th seeded Columbia (Mo.) in the First Round of the 2024 NAIA Women's National Tournament.
The Wayland Baptist Flying Queens finished with an overall record of 22-8, and a record of 16-6 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. The Queens recently defeated Southwestern Assemblies of God University in the SAC Tournament Opening Round, but suffered a Semi-Final loss to the tournament runners-up, Langston.
The Cougars of Columbia College (Mo.) enter the National Tournament with an overall record of 27-4, and an American Midwest Conference record of 16-2. The Cougars were Co-Regular Season AMC Champions, and they won the American Midwest Conference Tournament with a win over Williams Baptist University.
The other two teams that will compete in the Seward, Nebraska quadrant are 3 seeded hosts Concordia University (25-6, 17-5 GPAC) and 14 seeded Benedictine University (Kan.) (20-11, 16-6 Heart of America Conference).
The Queens are one of five Sooner Athletic Conference Teams to qualify for the National Tournament along with 3 seed John Brown, 8 seed Langston, 10 seed Mid-American Christian (Okla.), and 13 seed University of Science and Arts (Okla.).
The First Round of the 2024 NAIA Women's National Tournament begins on March 15
th with the Second Round taking place on March 16
th. Regional winners will advance to the Sioux City, Iowa to compete for an opportunity to play for a national championship that will begin on March 21
st.
