The Wayland Baptist Cheer Team recently competed in the Cheer America National Championships in Round Rock, Texas. The Cheer Team claimed a National Championship by taking first place in the Collegiate Game Day division with a score of 77.10.

Kira Weatherton had these comments about the performance, "We have been working nonstop on this routine for the past five months – early mornings, long practices and balancing it all while cheering for other Wayland sports teams. It hasn't been easy, but the hard work truly paid off. Our routine was full of energy, loud voices and solid stunts. We were proud to represent Wayland."
