PROSPER, TX. --- The Wayland Baptist men's golf team opened their 2026 Spring season with a 5
th place finish at the Friends Invitational in Prosper, Texas. Sophomore
Nino Mahy placed 6
th individually and earned All-Tournament Team honors.
The Pioneers took 5
th place out of 11 competing teams after scoring rounds of 293-287-305-885. As a team, they finished with the second lowest scoring average on Par 3s (3.02 shots per Par 3) and Par 5s (5.02 shots per Par 5). They shot 40 total Birdies and 163 Pars.
Nino Mahy finished in 6
th place overall with rounds of 71-71-75-217, which earned him All-Tournament Team honors. Mahy was particularly strong on Par 4s and finished with the third lowest average score on Par 4s (3.97 shots per Par 4). Mahy scored 13 Birdies (T-3
rd in the field) and 29 Pars.
Sophomore
Etienne Bocquillon finished in a tie for 14
th with scores of 76-74-73-223. Bocquillon shot the lowest score on Par 3s in the field, averaging 2.75 shots per Par 3 (-3 under Par). Bocquillon shot 11 Birdies (T-7
th in the field) and 28 Pars.
Junior
Sacha Brendle also finished in a tie for 14
th after shooting 73-71-79-223. Brendle finished the tournament with six Birdies and 36 Pars (T-8
th in the field).
Leonard Lebrun earned a tie for 24
th after scoring rounds of 73-76-78-227. Lebrun finished the tournament with five Birdies and 37 Pars (T-6
th in the field).
Alexandre Genet earned a tie for 36
th with scores of 77-71-84-232. Genet ended the tournament with five Birdies and 33 Pars.
The Pioneers will take the course again on March 9-10 when they host the Top of Texas Invitational in Amarillo, Texas.
