PALM HARBOR, Fla. — Wayland Baptist men's golf finished 11th in a 20-team field at The Invite at Innisbrook, highlighted by a top-10 individual performance from Enzo Dakiche.
The three-round tournament featured 103 golfers competing on the par-71, 7,209-yard Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club. Wayland placed two golfers inside the top half of the field, led by Dakiche's tie for eighth.
Dakiche put together an impressive tournament, finishing at 3-over par after rounds of 75, 72 and 69. His final-round 69 was Wayland's lowest round of the tournament and moved him into a tie for eighth. Dakiche closed with a 2-under performance that included three birdies and only one bogey, providing a strong finish to the event.
Sacha Brendle was the Pioneers' next finisher, tying for 41st at 13-over. Brendle posted rounds of 77, 75 and 74, improving his score each round and closing the tournament with his best performance.
Leonard Lebrun finished tied for 52nd at 14-over following rounds of 74, 75 and 78. Lebrun's opening-round 74 was one of Wayland's stronger scores to begin the tournament.
August Nord and Maxime Olivo each finished tied for 85th at 21-over. Nord carded rounds of 80, 75 and 79, including a five-shot improvement from the first to second round. Olivo recorded rounds of 75, 76 and 83, with his opening-round 75 serving as his best score of the tournament.
Head Coach Tom Harp had this to say after the tournament "We have some lessons to learn. Certainly some bright spots with Enzo shooting 69 on the last round and his overall finish. We will all learn to be better for it and get to work on the next one coming up!"
Wayland Individual Results
Wayland finished 11th out of 20 teams in a field of 103 individual competitors. The Pioneers were paced throughout the tournament by Dakiche, whose final-round 69 capped the event with Wayland's first top-10 individual finish of the tournament.
