LUBBOCK – The Wayland Baptist men's and women's track and field teams competed in the 2026 Masked Rider Open hosted by Texas Tech University.
Anthony Willis,
Edmundo Avalos, and
Inmaculada Delgado shined and earned Top 5 finishes in their respective event.
Willis, a Freshman from Kingston, Jamaica, was the top finisher for the Pioneers at the Masked Rider Open. He took 3
rd place in the men's long jump with a furthest leap of 7.37m.
Avalos, a native of Anton, Texas, placed 4
th in the men's shot put with a best toss of 13.86m.
Delgado, a Seville, Spain native, earned 5
th place in the women's 1500m run with a time of 5:03.48. Delgado has shined in the distance races all year for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers will have athletes going to two different meets between April 2-4, 2026. They will send athletes to San Marcos, Texas from April 2-4 to compete in the 2026 Bobcat Invite. They will also send athletes to Levelland, Texas on Friday April 3
rd, to compete in the SPC Alumni Elite Invite.
