WILMORE, KY. --- The NCCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships provided a strong showing for the Wayland Baptist Pioneers as multiple student-athletes earned All-American finishes and scored valuable team points over three days in Wilmore, Kentucky.
Overall, the Pioneers earned 15 All-American awards after placing Top 3 in their respective event. Both men's and women's teams finished in 7
th place overall as a team.
Freshman
Nathaniela King capped off her outstanding weekend by earning Co-Field Athlete of the Meet honors. King was recognized with this award after winning the individual national championship in the women's long jump (5.65m) and 2
nd place in the triple jump (10.89m). These two finishes lifted King to two All-American awards.
Austin Reeves,
Case Drum,
Daeandre Harris, and
Jesus Zubia secured the national championship in the men's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:18.82. With the win, these four athletes received All-American honors.
Drum and Harris, along with
Branden Brown and
Anthony Willis, earned All-American honors after taking 3
rd place in the men's 4x100m relay (41.82). Willis later earned his second All-American award by taking 3
rd place in the men's long jump (7.04m).
Sophomore
Mia Gray received two All-American awards after taking 2
nd place in the women's shot put (12.87m) and discus throw (41.13m).
Elizabeth Egwunwoke and
Inmaculada Delgado round out the Pioneers who earned All-American honors at the NCCAA National Championships. Egwunwoke took 2
nd place in the women's 200m (25.70), while Delgado took 3
rd place in the women's 5000m (18:18.92).
