OKLAHOMA CITY – The Wayland Baptist Pioneer baseball team has earned the 6-seed in the upcoming 2026 SAC Baseball Championships presented by Netting Pros/Stadionic.
The Pioneers finished 6
th in the SAC Baseball standings after finishing the 2026 regular season with a 29-19 overall record and 13-14 in conference play. Since they received the 6-seed, they will travel to Oklahoma City for their opening round series against the 3-seed Oklahoma City University Stars.
The Pioneers and Stars will play a best-of-three series beginning with a doubleheader on Friday, April 24
th, with Game One starting at 1:00 PM. If they split Friday's doubleheader, they will play a single nine-inning game on Saturday, April 25
th, with the winner advancing to the SAC Baseball Semi-Finals.
The full 2026 SAC Baseball Championship bracket will feature:
- (8) College of the Ozarks vs. (1) Texas Wesleyan
- (5) Nelson vs. (4) Central Christian
- (6) Wayland Baptist vs. (3) Oklahoma City
- (7) Science & Arts vs. (2) Mid-America Christian
The format for the tournament this year is that the top four seeded teams will host a best-of-three series starting on Friday, April 24. The four teams that win their opening round series will advance to play in a double-elimination tournament at Joe Becker Ballpark in Joplin, Missouri, beginning on Friday, May 1.
