Eddie Allen to be Inducted into Wayland Baptist University Athletics Hall of Honor

PLAINVIEW, Texas – Wayland Baptist University Athletics is proud to announce that former baseball standout Eddie Allen will be inducted into the Wayland Baptist University Athletics Hall of Honor as a member of the 2026 Hall of Honor Class, honoring one of the most accomplished and durable players in Pioneer baseball history.

A native of Mesquite, Texas, Allen was a four-year starter for the Pioneers from 2008-11, establishing himself as one of the premier shortstops in the Sooner Athletic Conference while rewriting the Wayland Baptist baseball record book. His consistency, leadership and relentless work ethic made him the cornerstone of the Pioneer infield throughout his collegiate career.

After beginning his career at third base as a freshman, Allen moved to shortstop, where he became one of the top defensive and offensive players in the conference. He started every game of his collegiate career, a testament to both his durability and dependability, and finished as Wayland's all-time leader in games started, hits, runs scored, walks, sacrifices and assists.

By the conclusion of his junior season, Allen had already established school records in sacrifices while ranking among the program's leaders in hits, runs scored, doubles, triples, RBIs and stolen bases. He was also a two-time All-Sooner Athletic Conference selection, earning recognition as one of the league's premier middle infielders.

Allen enjoyed a remarkable senior campaign in 2011, leading the NAIA with 98 hits and 77 runs scored while batting .419 with 17 doubles, two triples and three home runs. His outstanding season earned him Capital One Academic All-District First Team honors, recognizing both his excellence on the field and in the classroom. A business administration major, Allen maintained a 3.7 grade-point average while serving as one of the leaders of the Pioneer baseball program.

His success in the classroom continued at the national level, as Allen was named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete following his senior season, exemplifying the ideal of the student-athlete through his commitment to academic and athletic excellence.

Throughout his four-year career, Allen's impact extended well beyond statistics. His leadership, consistency and competitive spirit helped shape the culture of Wayland Baptist baseball, while his record-setting performances established a standard that future generations of Pioneers continue to pursue. Whether making a highlight-reel play at shortstop, setting the table offensively or leading by example, Allen represented Wayland Baptist University with distinction every time he took the field.

His combination of record-breaking accomplishments, conference recognition, academic excellence and unwavering commitment to the Pioneer baseball program make Eddie Allen a deserving member of the 2026 Wayland Baptist University Athletics Hall of Honor.

The 2026 Hall of Honor class will be formally inducted during a ceremony this fall as Wayland Baptist University celebrates the accomplishments and enduring legacy of its newest Hall of Honor members.
