Freshman Ian Ansett turned in Wayland's top finish at the NAIA Contender last week in Irving, as the team took 7th place out of 14 teams. The Johannesburg, South Africa-native led the Pioneers after rounds of 74 and 71 for a 145 total on Monday, tying him for third place.

Along with the rest of the field, Ansett struggled a bit with the 43 degree temperatures and 25 mph winds on day two, turning in an 82. Still, he reeled in the team's top finish of the event, tying for 11th place out of 75 golfers.
