All-Decade Basketball Teams Selected

As the final basketball season of the decade wraps up, the Wayland Baptist University Athletic Department has put together a Men's and Women's Basketball Team of the Decade. The squads will be recognized between Thursday's basketball games against Oklahoma City University.

The All-Decade teams are composed of outstanding performers of the Queens and Pioneers from 2000 to 2010 and were chosen by select Wayland faculty and staff members, as well as long-time fans. There were three unanimous selections to the teams, Pioneers Ty Harrelson, Kendall Webb and Danny Storey.



PIONEER ALL-DECADE TEAM



Nate Bridges (2003-06) - A two-time NAIA Scholar Athlete, Bridges is the decade leader in blocked shots and steals. He started in 92 of the 93 games he played, and the Pioneers made two NAIA Championship Tournament appearances in his three seasons. Statistics: 1011 points (10.9 ppg), 717 rebounds (7.7 rpg), 150 blocked shots (1.6 bpg), 169 steals (1.8 spg)



Matt Garnett (2002-04) - The Pioneers made appearances in the NAIA Championship Tournament in all three seasons that Garnett played at Wayland. He was a 2004 NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, a NAIA Scholar Athlete, and a 2nd team All-SAC selection. Statistics: 810 points (9.1 ppg), 320 assists (3.6 apg)



Ty Harrelson (2001-03) - The first Pioneer to be named NAIA 1st Team All-American and NAIA Player of the Week, Harrelson holds the WBU season records for most assists per game (6.8 in 2002-03), the single game record for assists (15 vs. Schreiner Univ.), and the best free throw percentage in a season (88.8%). The Pioneers were 42-20 during his two years and reached the NAIA tournament both seasons. Statistics: 1032 points (17.5 ppg), 344 rebounds (5.5 rpg), 410 assists (6.6 apg), 104 steals (1.7 spg)



Amin Norris (2001-03) - The decade leader in rebounds per game and in field goal shooting (55.9%) among those with at least 400 shots, Norris was a 2002 1st team All-Conference selection and an Honorable Mention NAIA All-American. The Pioneers made NAIA tournament appearances in both of his years at Wayland, going 42-20 overall. Statistics: 1032 points (17.5 ppg), 512 rebounds (8.7 rpg)



Danny Storey (2004-08) - Only the second Pioneer in school history to break the 1000 point/1000 rebound barrier, Storey was a 2008 2nd team NAIA All-American, a 1st team All-SAC selection, and the SAC Defensive MVP in 2008. He is the decade leader in games started (123). Storey shot 54.9% from the field in his four-year career and made two NAIA tournament appearances. Statistics: 1425 points (11.5 ppg), 1032 rebounds (8.5 rpg)



Kendall Webb (2003-07) - The all-time leading scorer in Pioneer history, Webb became only the second Pioneer to be named NAIA 1st team All-American, and the first to be named SAC Player of the Year. He was a two-time 1st team All-SAC selection, was a 2006 NAIA 3rd team All-American, and was named SAC Freshman of the Year in 2004. He is the decade leader in field goals made/attempted, three-pointers made/attempted, free throws made/attempted, assists, games played and minutes played. Statistics: 2074 points (16.9 ppg), 381 rebounds (3.1 rpg), 477 assists (3.9 apg), 163 steals (1.3 spg)



FLYING QUEENS ALL-DECADE TEAM



Cassie Birkenfeld (2000-04) - A two-time Honorable Mention All-SAC selection, Birkenfeld helped lead the Queens to three NAIA Championship Tournament appearances. She was averaging a team-high 13.6 points a game when she suffered a season-ending knee injury in the seventh game of her senior year. Statistics: 1213 points (11.6 ppg), 393 rebounds (3.7 rpg), 229 assists (2.2 apg)



Alison Cudnoski (2001-03) - The only Flying Queen to be named to the 1st team NAIA All-American team in the decade, Cudnoski was a 2nd team All-NAIA Tournament team selection in 2003. A transfer from Texas Tech, Cudnoski earned 1st team All-Conference honors her senior season, helping lead the WBU women to the Elite Eight in the 2003 NAIA Championship Tournament. Statistics: 964 points (14.6 ppg), 503 rebounds (7.6 rpg), 74 blocks (1.1 bpg)



Rose Ouma (2008-09) - Ouma led the Queens to their first NAIA tournament appearance in four years in 2009. A transfer from Lewis and Clark Community College, she was a 2009 3rd team NAIA All-American, the 2009 SAC Defensive Player of the Year, and the SAC Newcomer of the Year. She finished second in the NAIA in steals. Statistics: 507 points (14.9 ppg), 290 rebounds (8.5 rpg), 151 steals (4.4 spg)



Cami Rea (2000-03) - Rea helped lead the Queens to two NAIA championship tourney appearances during the three years she played in this decade (she also played during the 1999-00 season). She was a two-time NAIA Scholar Athlete, a 2002 NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and a 2nd team All-Conference selection. She holds the WBU career records for most three-pointers made and attempted, is tied for the single season record for three-pointers made, and is tied for the single game record for three-pointers made. Statistics (three-years only): 1157 points (11.8 ppg), 360 rebounds (3.7 rpg), 215 assists (2.2 apg), 116 steals (1.2 spg)



Stephanie Shaw (2002-05) - Shaw helped lead the Queens to two NAIA championship tournament appearances, earning 2nd team NAIA All-American honors in 2004. A native of Plainview who spent her freshman season at the University of New Mexico, Shaw was a 3rd team All-Conference honoree following her sophomore season, a 1st team All-SAC selection as a junior, and a 2nd team All-SAC honoree as a senior. Statistics: 1002 points (10.9 ppg), 446 rebounds (4.8 rpg), 409 assists (4.4 apg), 203 steals (2.2 spg)



Shaun Weaver (2000-01) - Weaver wrapped up a sterling four-year career in the first year of the decade. A 2001 NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, Weaver won SAC Defensive Player of the Year honors and was a 2nd team All-Conference selection. The Queens reached the national tournament in each of  Weaver's four seasons.  Statistics (2000-01 only): 270 points (8.4 ppg), 281 rebounds (8.8 rpg), 125 assists (3.9 apg), 104 steals (3.3 spg)
