Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. --- The 2012 baseball season came to an end for the Wayland Baptist Pioneers on Friday with a 22-6 loss at No. 2 Oklahoma City. The Pioneers wrap up the year at 15-39 and 6-24 in conference.
WBU got four of its six runs on one swing of the bat. Brandon Barcalow hit his second home run of the season with the bases loaded and two out in the fifth inning. It was the only grand slam for the Pioneers in 2012.
Ben Christian had Wayland's only other extra base hit, a double to lead off the game. Josh Chinni had two hits, both singles. Josh Carroll and Dilon Chancellor had the other base knocks for the Pioneers.
OCU knocked around four Pioneer pitchers. The Stars, which picked up their 40th win of the season against just eight losses, accumulated 23 hits, including seven long balls, seven doubles and a triple. They scored in every inning but two, and crossed the plate seven times in the third and nine in the sixth.
Sophomore Brian Allen edged out Chinni for the Pioneer batting crown. Allen finished the season hitting .310, while Chinni had a .309 batting average. Chinni recorded a team-high 18 long balls, and was the Wayland leader in RBI with 38 and in runs scored with 36.
