Men swimmers remain ninth in national poll

Wayland Baptist remained ninth in the second edition of the 2014-15 NAIA Men's Swimming and Diving Coaches' Poll. The Pioneers received 11 votes, one more than Biola, Calif.

Wayland was ranked for the first time in the program's two-year history in the first poll this season on Dec. 11. The Pioneers pulled 16 votes in that poll.

For the 11^th straight poll, Oklahoma Baptist is the top-ranked team. In just its fourth year as a program, the three-time defending national champions have earned the top spot in 12-of-15 polls. OBU's women, who have won the last two national titles, are No. 1 in the women's poll, marking the fifth-consecutive top billing for the Bison. The school has been ranked among the top three in all 14 polls dating back to the program's inception prior to the 2011-12 season.

The polls were voted upon by a panel of head coaches from the NAIA Swimming & Diving Coaches Association. The rating was expanded to 10 teams beginning this season. The third Top 10 poll will be released Feb. 25.

Wayland's next competition is against Texas-Permian Basin beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the City of Midland Aquatics Center.
