Unfortunately, they were unable to notch a victory as they fell to John Brown University here Saturday afternoon, 2-1.
The Pioneers (7-5-2, 3-4-0 SAC) scored early in the first half with a goal from senior
Travis Somersall in the 21st-minute, assisted by junior
David Herrera. The 1-0 lead carried into halftime.
Going into the break, the teams were knotted at three shots apiece, but by the end of the match the Pioneers would be out-shot by the Eagles (10-5-1, 6-1-0) 17-11.
JBU went on to score in the 73rd minute and again in the 80th minute. The Pioneers tried desperately to get the equalizer in the final 10 minutes, but couldn't.
With the loss, the Pioneers find themselves in fifth place in the SAC, but with upcoming home matches against the two teams just above them in the standings to end the regular-season.
