Erin Moon.
Facing their second ranked opponent in for matches, the Pioneers fell to the No. 23 Drovers in Sooner Athletic Conference play, 5-0.
USAO outshot the Pioneers, 41-4. Twenty-four of the Drovers' shots were on-goal, with Moon being credited with a program-record 19 saves, two more than the old mark of 17 set by Amy Boerner against McMurry in 2003. Moon's previous high was 12 against John Brown, which was ranked 23
rd at the time, 16 days earlier.
It was the sixth straight win for league-leading USAO (11-2-1, 6-0 SAC), while Wayland (3-9, 2-4) slipped into seventh place in the SAC standings.
The Drovers picked up their first two goals within four minutes of each other, with Jordan Cleveland first scoring in the 16
th minute then Allie Gordon in the 20
th. It stayed that way until Gordon struck again in the 63
rd minute.
Thais Silva tallied the final two goals, both in the final eight minutes of play.
The Pioneers are back at home Tuesday to face ninth-place Southwestern Christian (4-9, 1-5), which suffered its third consecutive setback to Southwestern Assemblies of God on Saturday, 3-0. Kickoff Tuesday is 4 p.m.
