Wrestlers win 3-of-4 at Oklahoma City Duals

OKLAHOMA CITY – Wayland Baptist's men's wrestlers won three of its four matches, falling only to the third-ranked team in the NAIA, during the Oklahoma City Duals held here Sunday.

Ranked the equivalent of 41^st, the Pioneers defeated two higher-ranked teams in York, Neb., ranked the equivalent of 33^rd, and Bethany, Kan., ranked the equivalent of 38^th. Wayland edged York, 27-24, and Bethany, 27-19.

Wayland's other win was over Kansas Wesleyan, ranked the equivalent of 43^rd, 42-18.

The Pioneers' Riley Williams posted a pair of wins on the mat in the 197-pound class, winning over opponents from Bethany and Indiana Tech, both by fall.

Other Pioneers taking victories were Gabe Gray (125), Jesus Gomez (125), DeMarco Speller (133), Damarea Speller (165), Tommy Rosen-St. John (174), and Fernando Serie (184).

Wayland's next competition is Jan. 11 in Goodland, Kan., against Northwest Tech.
