Cobb Scholarship to be dedicated

Former Wayland Baptist wrestling coach Johnny Cobb will be honored Saturday when an endowed scholarship is dedicated in his honor.
 
The dedication will take place following the Pioneer men's and women's wrestling teams' duals against Bacone College, which begin at noon in the Pete and Nelda Laney Student Activities Center.
 
Saturday marks the final home competition of the season for WBU wrestling. Senior members of the men's and women's teams will be recognized.
 
Refreshments will be served following the scholarship dedication.
 
Cobb, a legendary coach in the wrestling world, helped start the wrestling program at Wayland in 2009. He served as head coach of the Pioneers for five years until retiring following the 2013-14 season.
 
Wayland remains the only university in Texas to sponsor wrestling as an official sport.
