Wayland Baptist goalkeeper
Ziggy Camejo has been voted Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
A 6-foot senior from the Bronx, N.Y., Camejo helped No. 12 Wayland to a pair of shutout victories last week over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (2-0) and Central Christian College (6-0). After Wayland did not allow SAGU to take any shots in their home match Tuesday, Camejo recorded four saves on the road Saturday against Central Christian as he registered his fifth and sixth shutouts of the season.
Camejo, who has allowed only five goals all season and ranks sixth in the NAIA in goals against per game (.520), is the first WBU player to earn SAC player-of-the-week honors this season.
The defending national champion Pioneers (8-2, 3-1 SAC) next play at 3 p.m. Saturday at home against John Brown (5-5-1, 2-2). The Golden Eagles, after drilling Bacone 10-0, on Saturday knocked off USAO, ranked the equivalent of 27
th in the NAIA, in Siloam Springs, Ark., 3-1.
John Brown's Ryan Williams logged four goals and one assist to be named SAC Offensive Player of the Week.
