Weather threat robs doubleheader at Wilder

The threat of inclement weather forced the cancellation of Wayland Baptist's baseball doubleheader against Sterling College (Kan.) on Tuesday at Wilder Field.

Officials had to make the decision to cancel around noon Monday, when Sterling was set to begin its trip to Plainview.

The Pioneers (23-17, 12-9 Sooner Athletic Conference) next play host to No. 9 Oklahoma City (41-10, 20-4) in a three-game series at Wilder Field. The first two games will be played as part of a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. Friday, followed by a single game at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Saturday's game could mark the final regular-season game for Wayland, unless the Pioneers host Mid-America Christian in a make-up game Sunday. Details surrounding that game are being worked out by coaches.
