Former Wayland Baptist Pioneer
Louis Timms has signed a professional basketball contract with BK Amager in the 1
st Division of Denmark.
Timms, a native of Australia who played at WBU in 2016-17, suited up this past spring with the Kalamunda Eastern Suns in Australia's State Basketball League, averaging 20.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 blocks while shooting 56 percent from the field over 19 games.
The 6-foot-9, 225-pound Timms also scored 11 points in the SBL All-Star Game, including getting the game-winning dunk.
"Louis is one of the best players to play at Wayland. He was absolutely dominating in his time here.  We are very excited to see him get this opportunity in Europe," Wayland coach
Ty Harrelson said.
Â
Timms' time at Wayland was cut short when he suffered a season-ending knee injury during an exhibition game midway through his only season. At the time of his injury, Timms was leading the NAIA in blocked shots (3.3) and was close to averaging a double-double (13.1 ppg, 9.6 rpg).
Â
Besides Timms, other former Pioneers playing professionally include George Williams (La Salle Tarija, Bolivia), Eric Milam (Cockburn Cougars, Australian SBL), Marshall Nelson (Perth Redbacks, Australian SBL), and
Julian Pesava (Giessen 46ers II, German ProB). Rob Waters also continues to pursue pro ball after playing in Australia.
