Wayland Baptist jumped five places to stand at No. 3 in the first 2021-22 regular-season NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

The Flying Queens started the season ranked No. 8, after ending the 2020-21 campaign at No. 2. After winning all six of their games this season – including victories over No. 19 Clarke (Iowa) and No. 23 Loyola (La.) – Wayland jumped to No. 3, behind only defending national champion Westmont (Calif.) and No. 2 Campbellsville, Ky.

The Flying Queens open Sooner Athletic Conference play this evening against Southwestern Christian at 6 p.m., followed by the Pioneers at 8. On Saturday the Queens host Mid-America Christian, ranked the equivalent of 43
rd in the NAIA, at 2 p.m.

Before Saturday's game, a 1,700-wins banner presentation will be held at approximately 1:45 p.m., and at halftime all former Flying Queens in attendance will be recognized. A post-game reception will be held in the Laney Center.
