Kellie Kozak has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week after helping the Pioneers to a pair of home wins that moved the team into sole possession of first place in the league.

A 6-foot senior middle hitter from Ituna, Saskatchewan, Canada, Kozak produced a season-high 15 kills and a .583 hitting percentage – her second-highest of the season – in a 25-17, 25-17, 25-20 victory over Oklahoma-Panhandle State. She also had three aces, one solo block and five block-assists in that match.

Then on Saturday, in a 25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 25-15 win over John Brown University, Kozak notched 10 kills with no hitting errors in 23 swings for a .435 hitting percentage. She added four digs, three block-assists and an ace as Wayland snapped a seven-match losing skid against the Golden Eagles and notched its 13
th straight victory.

For the week, Kozak averaged 3.6 kills a game and hit .511. She ranks as the second-most prolific hitter in the SAC with a season hitting percentage of .337 and is the league's seventh-best blocker with a 0.9 per-set average.

It's the second time in her collegiate career Kozak has been named SAC Attacker of the Week, the first coming in mid-November.

The Pioneers (13-3, 6-0 SAC), looking to equal a 14-match win streak from 2014, play their next four matches on the road, starting with a Friday night contest at third-place Texas Wesleyan (11-2, 5-1) followed by a Saturday afternoon match at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (8-4, 4-2). Texas Wesleyan handed Wayland its last loss on Oct. 23 in Plainview, 25-12, 25-22, 25-22.
