Moses Torres won both of his matches Tuesday as Wayland Baptist – in its first action of 2022 – split duals with Central Baptist and Oklahoma Wesleyan. The Pioneers, ranked the equivalent of 22
nd in the NAIA, overwhelmed Central Baptist, 42-12, before falling to Oklahoma Wesleyan, ranked the equivalent of 45
th in the NAIA, 28-21.
Moses, who recorded pins in both of his matches at 141 pounds, was one of four Pioneers to secure two victories.
Johnathon Ortegon won once by decision and once by forfeit at 125, William Bennet won once by fall and once by forfeit at 285, and Joshua Wilson won twice by forfeit at 197.
WBU's outcomes leave the Pioneers with a 3-2 dual record. Wayland is next in action in a dual Jan. 18 at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo.
