As a result of posting a triple-double in the 2022-23 season-opener, Wayland Baptist Flying Queen
Jenna Cooper-Jackson has been named Oklahoma Ford Sooner Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
In the No. 10 Flying Queens' 91-51 win over University of the Southwest (N.M.), Jackson scored 23 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and handed out 10 assists. She shot 50 percent (7-of-14) from the field, including 3-of-8 from 3-point range, and was a perfect 6-of -6 from the charity stripe. Jackson also added two steals and a block.
"Jenna had a great game. Opening the season with a triple-double is pretty special," Coach
Jason Cooper said. "She sees the floor so well and understands what we are trying to do so well. It is like having a coach on the floor."
It was the second triple-double of her career, the first an 11-11-11 stat line last season against Oklahoma-Panhandle State.
Jackson-Cooper and the Flying Queens play at Hardin-Simmons in Abilene at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday before an exhibition at the University of Texas at Austin at 7 p.m. Friday.
