Three Wayland Baptist cross country runners –
Alex Spencer,
Cole Rubac and
Devin Davis – have been named 2022 Daktronics NAIA Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athletes.
To gain the recognition, scholar-athletes must achieve at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate in the respective sport, and have attended one full year at their school.
Spencer, Rubac and Davis are all seniors. Spencer is from Lubbock, Rubac is from Mansfield, and Davis from Opelousas, La.
Spencer will compete Friday at the NAIA National Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Fla. Joining him will be
Dennis Kiptoo, who will be trying to become a four-time all-American, and freshman
Malachi Macias.
