Jake Green has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
A junior catcher/designated hitter from Sachse, Green turned in an incredible week at the plate as the Pioneers defeated Oklahoma-Panhandle State in two of three Sooner Athletic Conference games in Goodwell, Okla. Batting third in the WBU line-up, Green finished the three-game series with a .769 batting average, going 10-for-13 with a double, three RBIs and two steals. With no walks and no strikeouts, he had an .846 slugging percentage and a .714 on-base percentage and the Pioneers – in their final regular-season road games of 2022 – defeated the Aggies 5-1 and 13-1 after a 7-6, extra-inning loss.
Green is WBU's second SAC Player of the Week this season, joining
Dawin Santos. Also,
Tanner Solomon and
Deric Trevino were named SAC Pitcher of the Week.
The Pioneers play their final 10 regular-season games at home, starting with a noon doubleheader at noon Tuesday against Jarvis Christian.
