Jose Suero and
Arturo Disla have been named WBU Student-Athletes of the Week after helping the Pioneers to three wins over Jarvis Christian and No. 10 Science & Arts of Oklahoma.
Suero, a senior relief pitcher from El Castillo La Isabelle, Dominican Republic, made appearances in three of WBU's five games, completing one inning in each. He picked up a save in a 3-1 win over Jarvis Christian before earning the win in a 6-5 victory over Science & Arts. The hard-throwing, right-handed closer allowed no runs on three hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
Disla, a freshman third baseman/first baseman from La Vega, Dominican Republic, went 5-for-9 (.556) with a double, home run, two walks and no strikeouts. He scored three runs, drove in two and had a .667 on-base percentage with a 1.000 slugging percentage.
