NAIA announces Scholar Teams, Scholar-Athletes

Twelve Wayland Baptist teams and 33 WBU student-athletes were announced today as NAIA Daktronics Scholar Teams and NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the 2021-22 academic year.

The NAIA Scholar Team recognition honors teams that achieve 3.0 combined grade-point averages. Wayland led the Sooner Athletic Conference with 12 SAC Scholar Teams when those honors were announced last summer.

To gain the NAIA Scholar-Athlete award, student-athletes must be juniors or above in academic standing with at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average, appear on the eligibility certificate for an NAIA-recognized sport and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer.

The NAIA recognized nearly 11,000 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and close to 2,000 NAIA Scholar Teams as a part of its annual NAIA National Awards Day. The day recognizes the association's highest individual honors and achievements of NAIA student-athletes, administrators and coaches.
