Flying Queens Secure Dominant Road Win Against OPSU

Goodwell, Oklahoma – Linda Brice put up 19 points, Taylor Houston added 16, and Bobbie Fouquet finished with 13 as the Flying Queens dominate in a road conference game at Oklahoma Panhandle State University (0-7, 0-5 SAC).
 
The Flying Queens (7-2, 4-1 SAC) were able to get out to an early lead in the 1st by putting pressure on the Aggies, forcing them into 7 turnovers in the frame. The Queens took a 10-7 lead early after Fouquet was able to get a steal and created a fastbreak layup for Brice. Later in the period, Taylor Houston was able to grab a rebound off a blocked shot and go back up for the bucket to give the Queens an early 8-point lead.
 
After the Aggies opened the 2nd quarter scoring with a three, the Queens went on a 20-2 run to open the lead up to 40-20. The Aggies scored on their first possession but didn't score again for just over 8 minutes. The Queens were able to create 10 Aggie turnovers and take a commanding 40-24 lead into the half.
 
The Queens were able to grow their lead to 52-30 after a couple of successful free throws by Nestor, and they took a 54-33 lead into the final quarter. After two successful free throws by Emily Sigala, who also led the team with 5 assists, the Queens had their largest lead of the night at 70-41 and went on to win the night in dominant fashion, 77-51.
 
The Queens filled the stat sheet tonight led by Linda Brice who finished with 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. Taylor Houston finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds including six on the offensive boards, and 3 steals. Bobbie Fouquet finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. Megan Nestor finished with 12 points on 4-6 shooting and 7 rebounds.
 
The Queens return to The Hutch for their next matchup against Northern New Mexico College on Saturday, December 16th. Tip is set for 2:00 PM.
