Plainview, Texas –
Megan Nestor grabbed 22 rebounds, the most in a single game in Flying Queens history, and 14 points as the Queens dominate Northern New Mexico College 93-63. Nestor broke the previous record of 20 rebounds in a game grabbed by Ulla Madison on February 2, 1995.
Nestor wasn't the only Queen to record a double double as
Taylor Houston finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Freshman
Bobbie Fouquet finished with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Linda Brice scored a team-high 18 points and 3 assists.
RV Wayland Baptist (8-2, 5-0 SAC) got off to a hot start going on a 17-2 run sparked by a
Linda Brice jumper. Brice finished the quarter by hitting a 3-pointer with one second remaining giving the Queens a 24-10 lead after the first.
After taking a 41-29 lead in the half, the Queens came out hot once again as they led off the 3
rd quarter with a 10-0 run to give them a 22-point lead. The Queens dominated the rest of the game leading by 21 points or more on their way to a 30-point victory.
Coach
Jason Cooper was proud of the way his team played, saying "Tonight was a great team effort. We've been stressing to play our type of game. Our style and too our strengths. We are really starting to develop, and I feel like we are getting better every time out."
With this being the Queens final game before heading into Christmas break, Coach Cooper was happy about the Queens heading into the break on a high note. He stated, "I am excited about how well we played in the second half tonight. It was a great way to cap off a successful first semester of basketball."
Up next for the Flying Queens is a road showdown against the Saints of Our Lady of Lake University on December 29
