For the second week in a row, Wayland Baptist's
Tyler Wade has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Wade was honored after another top-notch performance, this time a 10-strikeout, one-hit shutout as Wayland blanked McPherson College (Kan.), 5-0, in the third game of a four-game series at Wilder Field.
The lone hit off Wade, who walked just one, was a two-out double in the third.
A week earlier at the Cajun Classic in Louisiana, Wade, a sophomore right-hander, tied the school record with 17 strikeouts and allowed just four singles, no earned runs and no walks in 6 2/3 innings against Tabor (Kan.).
Wade (2-1), a first-year transfer from Midland who played previously at the University of Tennessee and Odessa College, leads the NAIA with 39 strikeouts in his 23 1/3 innings over four starts.
