Cooper-Jackson, Edgemon, Houston recognized

Three Wayland Baptist Flying Queens were recognized by the Sooner Athletic Conference, with Jenna Cooper-Jackson named to the First Team, Kaitlyn Edgemon making the Second Team and the All-Defensive Team, and Taylor Houston voted to the All-Freshman Team.

Cooper-Jackson, a 6-foot senior forward from Claude, is a four-year all-conference honoree, including the last three on the First Team as well as SAC Newcomer of the Year. The two-time NAIA All-American leads the NAIA in assists with 185 (6.6 per game), having also led the NAIA in that category last season. She leads the team in scoring at 19.0 points per game, in 3-point shooting (55) and free throws (100-of-115, 87 percent), and is second in rebounds at 6.8. Cooper-Jackson ranks eighth on the Flying Queens' all-time scoring list with 1,795 points.

Edgemon, a 5-11 sophomore forward from Littlefield, is a three-time SAC honoree, having been named to the Third Team last season after earning SAC Freshman of the Year honors. She is second on the team in scoring (18.6 ppg) and assists (3.0) and leads in rebounding (7.3) and steals (2.0). With 1,209 points, she is tied for 29th on the Flying Queens' all-time scoring list.

Houston, a 6-foot-2 freshman forward from Idalou, is third on the teams in both scoring at 6.4 per game and rebounds at 5.3. Her 53 percent (73-of-139) field goal shooting is first among Flying Queens regulars.

The Queens finished as the No. 4 seed during the SAC regular-season and will host No. 5 seed John Brown in the Oklahoma Ford Dealers Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals set for 6 p.m. Thursday in Hutcherson Center.
