Wayland Baptist wound up in sixth place in the inaugural Sooner Athletic Conference Commissioner's Cup.
The SAC Commissioner's Cup was created as a symbol of overall excellence in athletics. Member institutions earned points for their finish of each varsity team in the SAC's 16 officially-recognized sports over the 2022-23 academic year.
Â
Schools accumulated points based on the number of institutions competing within a given sport, with the highest-finishing institution collecting the maximum points and following in descending order. Points in baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball and volleyball were awarded based upon the regular-season standings. In cross country, golf, track & field and wrestling, scoring was determined by finish in the conference championship event.Â
Â
Wayland recorded the third-highest number of points out of the 12 full-member schools in the conference. However, rankings are based on a percentage reflected through points earned versus points possible. WBU accumulated 65 points of a possible 114, or 57 percent.
Â
Wayland captured one SAC championship in 2022-23, in men's golf, while finishing second in men's basketball and men's cross country. For the complete scorecard breakdown, click

Â
Oklahoma City University won the inaugural SAC Commissioner's Cup, tallying 97 points of a possible 123, or 78.9 percent. In 2022-23, the Stars captured six SAC championships in men's cross country, men's wrestling, women's cross country, women's golf, softball and women's outdoor track & field.
Â
Texas Wesleyan came in second in the standings, tying OCU with 97 points but a lower percent, 75.8, of its possible 128 points. The Rams boasted of five league titles in baseball, football, women's basketball, men's track & field and women's wrestling.
For sports including affiliate members, points were determined by excluding those per-sport member teams and giving the maximum possible points to the highest finishing SAC full-member school. The second-highest SAC school received the second highest possible points for the sport, etc.Â
