Lubker Shoots Program Low 62 to Win Chicken Express Classic, Armendariz Places Second on Women's Side

Plainview – Senior Benjamin Lubker shot a program record 62 final round to win the individual title at the Chicken Express Classic hosted by Wayland Baptist, while freshman Marissa Armendariz placed second individually for the Pioneer Women's Golf team after finishing with a score of 232 over the three-round event.
 
A native of Fano, Denmark, Lubker is the reigning SAC Player of the Year and a First-Team All-American. Lubker dominated the Chicken Express Classic, winning the event by nine strokes, and finishing with scores of 66-66-62-194.
 
Freshman Nino Mahy was named to the All-Tournament Team after shooting rounds of 68-69-68-205, earning a tie for fourth place individually. Sophomore Leonard Lebrun finished tied for sixth after scoring rounds of 68-69-69-206, continuing to show consistency with scoring rounds below par.
 
Sacha Brendle finished in 13^th place with scores of 72-74-69-215, Etienne Bocquillon finished in 19^th after rounds of 74-72-74-220, and Dylan Ivey finished tied for 26^th after shooting 73-78-72-223.
 
The Pioneer Men's Golf team finished in second as a team, just one stroke behind the event champion, UT-Dallas. The final standings were:

For the Wayland Baptist Women's Golf team, freshman Marissa Armendariz paced the Pioneers with scores of 77-77-78-232, earning her a second-place finish by only two strokes. Armendariz was named to the All-Tournament team after her best performance of the season so far.
 
Freshman Ellen Lonergan was also named to the All-Tournament team after earning a third-place overall finish individually after scoring rounds of 83-78-80-241. Senior Juanita Villafane earned a sixth-place overall finish individually after scoring rounds of 79-85-82-246.

Up next for the Pioneer Men's Golf squad, the opportunity to defend their NCCAA National Championship. The Pioneers will travel to Palm Coast, Florida to participate in the NCCAA National Championship Tournament held at the Hammock Beach Resort. The tournament will be played Monday, October 21^st through Wednesday, October 23^rd.
