Plainview – The Pioneers have added a highly-touted international volleyball prospect, Emily Buchberger, as a member of both the Indoor Volleyball team and the inaugural Women's Beach Volleyball team.
Buchberger, a native of Germany, will join the Pioneers as a graduate transfer. She will be joining the squad after competing last season with DJK SB München Ost in the German 2 Bundesliga Süd.
Her DJK SB München Ost squad finished in third place in the German 3 Liga Ost Division, and her team was promoted to the 2
nd division Bundesliga in 2022-23. During the 2021-2022 season, Buchberger was named MVP of the league after helping her team a fourth-place finish in the German 3 Liga Ost.
Buchberger joined DJK SB München Ost during the 2020-2021 season as a Libero, which is the position she held throughout her duration with the squad. Buchberger was also a member of WG München U-23 team from 2021-2023.
Buchberger also competes in Women's Beach Volleyball at a high level. She was a participant in the National University Championships in 2023 and 2024.
